I guess all the cooking this weekend set something off in Freddy. He was fussy all day today and seemed insatiable so I decided to try and give him a bit of rice cereal. This was to be his first taste of solids. My previous experience with Henry led me to believe this would be a difficult exercise involving tears and vomit. I wasn’t expecting this:
He pretty much lunged at the spoon the second I brought it near his mouth. He has been following our hands as we feed ourselves and yesterday he kept trying to steal a biscuit out of my hands, so I think he’s been hinting for a while that he wants to try some form of solid.
Naturally, Henry saw this and decided it was an awesome new game, ran and got another spoon and decided to feed Freddy as well. So I’m supervising one kid to make sure he’s not choking on pablum and another to make sure he doesn’t kill his brother via force feeding.
So Henry then decided the food was actually his and ran off with it. Luckily Freddy had had his fill by then because he was no longer swallowing food, just kind of spitting it out. I’m actually excited about feeding Freddy food. I’m so hoping he’s a better eater than Henry was/is. Maybe Henry will learn to follow suit like his younger brother, because as an older sibling myself, you never want to be outdone by a younger sibling.
Seriously though, Henry has been eating a lot better since he’s had his prescribed “cleanse”. I guess he really needed a jump start to his system.
