Henry was not pleased with me today. We had another pretty rough night of waking up every 90minutes or so. It was hell. This morning we had an appointment for his 6 month vaccines with our new pediatrician. My friend Courtenay sent me an email with a link to a Kijiji add advertising a new pediatrician at the corner of March and Klondike road. For those who don’t know, that’s about a 5 minute drive from our home. The doctor was great. Very friendly and approachable (and young! No worries about him retiring before Henry turns 18). He’s from Boston (and a Harvard grad!) but is married to a girl from Ottawa and she wanted to move back here, so I guess I have her to thank for our new doc! Anyways he sat with us for almost an hour getting to know Henry and I, getting all our history and answering as many questions as I had. I didn’t feel rushed at all. It was great. Unfortunately at the end, we still needed those vaccines so Henry went from Happy Baby to Furious Baby really quickly. The worst was that after the appointment I had to fill out some paperwork to get his file transferred from my family doctor with Henry screaming in his car seat and everyone in the waiting room just kind of starring at me.

I am NOT happy!

I should have asked if any of the other doctors in the practice were accepting patients since it seems my GP might be moving back to Nova Scotia in a few years 😦

Since Henry was so angry/cranky we missed our last music class. Luckily we’re taking it again in September in Kanata since there was an opening at that location. Speaking of classes, we’ve also signed up again for Baby Sensory class starting October 27th at the Jewish Community Center. I’ll probably continue the FitMom classes as well. Once it gets cold, the classes are being moved indoors and we’re trading the strollers for carriers to do some cardio. Furthermore, Henry is signed up for swimming lessons through the city of Ottawa starting in October and he’ll be taking the class with Chris. I’m looking forward to them doing an activity together

After signing Henry up for some forced father/son bonding via swimming, Henry and I took a glorious 2 hour nap. It was amazing. You don’t realize how tired you are until you can fall asleep the second your head hits the pillow.  More proof that I’m super tired, I went to the Brookstreet hotel this evening to get my eyebrows waxed and practically fell asleep while getting it done. You know you’re tired when hair is being ripped out from you with hot wax around your eye area and manage to get a bit of shut eye. I haven’t been to the spa since January and boy did I miss it. What I wouldn’t give for a day there, getting a massage, facial, pedicure, a soak in their hot tub…ahhh

Speaking of beauty stuff (I’m so eloquent aren’t I), Henry is driving me crazy with the hair pulling. I thought it was bad before I got my hair cut but now that it’s shoulder length, I can’t tie it back as easily so he’s always grabbing chunks of it around the base and it hurts like crazy. He won’t let go either. I’m often forcing pressure on his little wrists in hopes he’ll let go but he often digs in deeper. I may have found a solution to this. While watching So You Think You Can Dance the other day, it dawned on me that one of the choreographers has the perfect hairstyle that prevents little baby fingers from ripping out the little sensitive hairs at the base of your skull. Yes, I’m talking about Sonya Tayeh! At first I thought her hairstyle was just a statement but now that I think about it, it must have been her solution to little grubby baby fingers. It can still be worn long but no pain!

Genius! She usually has it tied up during the show. The shaved part goes all around.

Now if only I had the guts to pull it off 🙂

You're going to do what to your hair?!?

 Here’s hoping Henry sleeps tonight!
