Henry and I went and voted yesterday in the federal election. Although I’m disappointed in the results, I’m glad we live in a country where we have the right to vote and the right to voice our discontent with the results. I want Henry to be passionate about these things as well, so I started him off early.
On the weekend we went to visit our friends Caitlin and Brian in their new house in Barhaven. Great looking place. Henry was pretty good. He went 3 1/2 hours between feedings which means I could have taken the mojito Brian had offered when we got there but not knowing how long it would be before Henry got hungry, I said no. I was lamenting to Chris on the way home about missing the mojito and Chris said to be sincerely “I’m not going to lie, it was awesome”.
When it was finally time to feed him, I went to feed him in their bedroom and was accompanied by their cat Ali (sp?) who was very curious about the whole process. She kept trying to climb on top of me and was chirruping the entire time.
When we came back home, we decided to have dinner outside since Saturday was such a nice day. We MacGyvered a sun shelter for Henry that he really seemed to enjoy.
In other news, I think Henry is starting to teeth. He’s been drooling like crazy, keeps shoving his fists in his mouth and has been pretty cranky (despite what that last picture shows). Everytime our hands go near his mouth, he lunges like a shark and latches on and starts sucking like crazy. I’ve been feeling his gums and I sometimes think I feel something and other times I don’t. Hopefully if it is his teeth coming in, it won’t hurt too much.
Also, I don’t think the play pen is working out for him. He’s not sleeping well in it. I think the matress (if you can even call it that) is too hard for him and he’s uncomfortable. I can hear him shifting around all the time in there and when he wakes up for a feeding, it’s impossible to get him to go back in there so we have a decision to make. Put him in his crib in his room or bring the crib into ours.
